Description: This presentation will discuss a project to document descendants of the famous Mohawk Chief Joseph Brant (1743-1807). It will describe Brant’s family, including his children and documented grandchildren. Furthermore, Jenna will share the research methodology and problems encountered.

Bio: Jenna Lemay has been involved in genealogical research for over 10 years and has been working in the Archives and Public History sector for almost as long. Working in the archives of a former Residential School and living on traditional Anishinaabe territory in Northern Ontario, she specializes in First Nations and Métis ancestry research. Jenna has worked with many clients to help them understand whether or not they have Indigenous ancestry and whether they are eligible for Indigenous status under the Canadian Federal government.
